From Gambo Ahmed, Lafia

The Mada Development Association (MDA), Kokona Local Government chapter of Nasarawa State has appealed to the police authorities in the state to investigate the killing of four young men during the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries on Tuesday allegedly by the military.

The MDA made the call in a press statement signed by the MDA chapter Chairman, Mr. Dokong Maruku and Secretary Silas Kassa and made available to journalists in Lafia yesterday.

According to the statement “Tuesday the 2nd December, was slated for APC State Houses of Assembly party primaries nation-wide. In Kokona East Constituency it turned out to be a bloody or preferably said, a black Tuesday as the lives of four innocent young men were lost and several people were injured as a result of careless or intentional use of bullets on people by some hired military men by one of the aspirants”.

The statement has it that “The process which started peacefully but later turned ugly because of manipulative tendencies were observed as Amba Ward delegates were called and the rule was that they can only go into the venue of the election with their cards as an indication of being genuine delegates but the APC Chairman Kokona LGC refused them their cards and started telling them otherwise stories. In the process, a soldier hit one of the delegates (Dimka Boka) on the head causing a deep laceration because of he and others were insisting they should be given their cards.

The statement also has it that “On arrival of the convoy, the environment became rowdy and tensed up and several people were gunned down with different degree of injuries”.

According to the MDA Chairman, the young men were sitting and unarmed, the soldiers came from their behind caught them unawares and asked them to kneel down which they did and were individually shot on their heads and death resulted instantly.

The statement also expressed regret that the four innocent young men of Mada extraction were killed and others injured were never in any way members of any “Ombatse” as being speculated in Garaku and Lafia as according the statement Honourable Jacob Okari and the Gimbiya Toni were mishandled and humiliated, they are of Gwandara extraction and are vying for the same seat with Daniel Oga Ogazi”.
