The All Progressives Congress (APC), in Benue State has alleged plot by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to rig the February election in the state.
State chairman of the party, Comrade Abba Yaro raised the alarm yesterday at the conclusion of APC campaign tour of the Benue North East Senatorial District during which thousands of PDP supporters in Ugba, Logo local government area defected to the APC.
He stated that it was common knowledge that the ruling party was training 750-member militia, known as the Joint Civilian Task Force (JCTF) to rig the forthcoming election, stressing however that the party was ready to match force with force if the need arose.
Governor Gabriel Suswam had also during the campaign rally of the PDP in Makurdi, alleged plot by the APC to rig next month’s election.
He had warned sternly that any plan to do so, “they will see Suswam tsunami. They can never win any election in this state”.
Comrade Yaro said the large turnout and defection at the occasion was an indication that Governor Suswam was not on ground in his home.
He urged the electorate to obtain, secure and effectively utilize their permanent voters’ cards to bring change through the ballot and thereafter protect their votes.
Addressing the rally Chief Dr Ortom stated that having risen from a humble background; he is acquainted with the problems of the people and would collaborate with them to tackle the challenges if elected.
The former Minister of State, Industry, Trade, and Investment assured that the APC government under General Muhammadu Buhari would restore sanity in the society by checking corruption.
According to Chief Dr Ortom the manifesto of the party contains provisions to probe questionable acquisition of wealth and property, adding that those who have such may have cause to worry.
Senator Gemade said he had special affinity with the people of the area which started from his father adding that he would always carry them along in whatever he does.
