APC has failed Nigerians, Dr. Fasehun

…Urges Buhari to recover looted funds at all cost

From Suleiman Idris, Lagos

Founder and President of the Oodua Peoples Congress, (OPC) Dr Frederick Fasehun yesterday took on the federal government and described the All Progressive Congress (APC) led administration as failing to actualize the dreams and aspirations of the nation when Nigerians massively voted for the government in 2015.
Dr. Fasehun said the change mantra upon which the Muhammed Buhari led APC government promised the people has only brought about more hunger, looting, darkness and joblessness upon the nation’s young population.
He said of the government “You promised change, and we massively supported you; but what you have done is not different from the immediate past government Nigerians thrown out of power. Nigerians are hungry, graduates lack job opportunities and this is a signpost to anarchy.”
The OPC leader, who spoke at the National Peace rally organized by the Yoruba socio-cultural group held at the Sagamu interchange on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway charged President Buhari to go after those who looted the nation’s treasury and recover the stolen funds.
Dr. Fasehun described those who carted away billions of the country resources as mad and challenged the federal government to address the country’s wobbling economic situation.
He however took a swipe at President Buhari challenging him to rise above been a sectional leader and prove to be the President of Nigeria “The President must prove to Nigerians that he is just not a village President but the leader of over 170 million Nigerians. The country’s situation is becoming unbearable. The President should sleep and think over the situation and make necessary corrections where they are needed”, he said.
Also speaking on the persistent gridlock on the Oshodi-Apapa expressway, the OPC Chief affirmed that the federal authority has conspired to stifle the economy of the South West hence the poor response to the horrible experience motorists and commuters are made to undergo on the road.
According to him, the OPC will soon intervene to bring sanity on the road if nothing is done on the expressway which he described as a metaphor of the APC government.
Protesters at the rally called for radical change in the country’s political landscape, some of the placards they displayed with inscription like ‘we need change now’, ‘Nigerians are hungry’, ‘no light to power our
local industries’, ‘lack of job for Nigerian youth’ and ‘FG must help the masses’ among others.
