Immediate past Minister for Police Affairs, Navy Capt. Caleb Olubolade, has said the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) under the Ekiti state governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has failed the state.
Speaking with newsmen yesterday after submitting his nomination form at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) headquarters in Abuja, Olubolade said Fayemi had disappointed he people of the state by no delivering on his promise to the people.
The former minister who expressed optimism that he would clinch the party governorship ticket in the state however said he would support the decision of the party leadership on consensus.
He said “I am a disciplined party man and I would abide by whatever decision taken by the leadership of our party; If they say we should go for concession, I will abide; if they ask us to go for primary to select the party’s candidate, I will also abide.”
Asked whether he would still remain in the PDP if he loses the party’s ticket, Olubolade said he would remain in the party to deliver the state to whoever emerges the party’s candidate.
Responds to question on what he intended to do differently should he be made the governor of Ekiti state, the former minister said, “if given the PDP ticket and I win the governorship seat,I will give the People of Ekiti joy and a new lease of life. Leadership is not by giving lectures, you have to identify with your people; you have to do their wishes; you must carry them along and you must be transparent with their money. Place everything on the table for them to see, they will in turn stand by you”.
“All the places I have worked in my life, go and check, I am free of crisis, I am free of corruption, that is what stands me out. If given the ticket, I am confident we will win the state for the PDP because the APC government of Governor Kayode Fayemi has made everything easy for us because the administration has nothing to show for its existence. For almost four years now, except the cosmetic roads. So, our people are tired of the government of deceit being run in Ekiti state, they want change, the people themselves are saying it loud and clear that come June 21, this year, APC government must go’’, he declared.
