A group under the auspices of ONDO All Progressive Congress (APC) Reality Group has petitioned the APC governorship screening and Appeal Committee to disqualify Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu from contesting the forth coming APC guber primary.
The group in a statement released in Abuja yesterday by its National Coordinator, Mr. Adeolu Adekola and Secretary Mr. Bayo Deji and made available to newsmen, warned the party against fielding Akeredolu.
It noted that Governor Akeredolu has polarized the party in the state as such has lost confidence of many party leaders, elders and supporters in the state.
The group also accused the governor of anti party activities in the 2019 general election which made the party loose at the presidential and National Assembly election to the opposition.
The statement reads in parts “We as members of the Reality group in ONDO APC find it imperative to intimate the Governorship screening committee of our party in ONDO 2020 with salient realities regarding the political status of Mr. Akeredolu nothing that such realities indicate how absolutely improper it is for our party to allow him to continue in the race to Alagbaka government house under the platform of our party.
“Akeredolu has not been loyal to the APC as a party since he assumed office as the governor of the state in 2016. Today in ONDO state, the APC is sharply polarized arising from how incapable Akeredolu is to work with people and accommodate various shades of opinion. All previous attempt made by well meaning leaders of APC to effect reconciliation were frustrated by the governor. He is currently presiding over a crumbling cabinet.
“Within the APC in ONDO state Akeredolu is clearly the least accepted of all aspirants. It is well known to everybody in ONDO state that almost all leaders and interest groups are vehemently determined to obstruct his second tenure ambition.”
It warned the party of the danger of allowing Akeredolu to participate in the primary election, adding that the patience of Ondo electorate should not be taken for granted.
