The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa Central Zone has resolved to work assiduously towards realisation the objective of producing the governorship candidate that would lead the state after the 2023 general elections.
Vice Chairman of the APC, Central Zone, Aliyu Bakari, disclosed the development at a press conference in Yola at the weekend, after a crucial meeting held at the party secretariat, where he stressed that as stakeholders of the party from the same zone, they needed to strategise for this as mandated by their electorates.
Bakari said the meeting was purposely for brainstorming on the best approaches to be adopted in creating awareness to the larger membership of the party for more unity and support for the dream of their stakeholders to clinch the Governorship position of the state in the next general election.
Bakari, flanked by seven (7) APC local government Area chairmen from the zone, announced that they have unanimously agreed to produce the next governor in the state.
He stated that since the advent of democracy in 1999, the central zone has been a determining factor in who becomes a governor in the state due to it numerical strength, hence the decision to mobilise and plan ahead so as to contribute in the development of the state.
“Gentlemen in all the elections held in the state, central zone always determine who becomes Governor because we produce the highest votes.
“So we feel next time should be our turn to produce one of us from this great zone to become executive Governor, in which we expect and hope massive support from the southern and Northern zones, as we have accorded them politically.
“Our message here is that our teeming supporters, members and stakeholders should start to strategise in mobilisation and awareness ahead of time as beautiful things can only be achieved through planning”, Bakari said.
The seven APC party chairmen that graced the meeting were that of; Fufore, Girei, Song, Yola North, Yola South, Gombi and Hong local councils respectively.
Our correspondent reports that there has been speculations on some political gladiators from the zone said to be eyeing the Government House, including; the Secretary to the Federal government (SGF), Boss Mustapha, Senator Aishatu Dahiru Binani, Former Principal Private Assistant to Former Governor Muhammadu Jibrilla Bindow, Alhaji Abdullahi Bakari and Younger Brother to wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Alhaji Modibbo Halilu, among others.
