Erstwhile Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the federation, Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, (SAN) has backed the senatorial ambition of Governor Gabriel Suswam of Benue state against Barnabas Gemade.
He said the people of the Kwande and Ushongo areas would not give the senate seat to anyone who has been in the system for a long time, but does not have value for them.
Aondoakaa, who made this assertion at a thanksgiving service organized by Kwande people for Governor Suswam held at St. Anne Catholic Church, Adikpo, advised others who are contesting the Benue North East senatorial seat to step down now or be humiliated.
He further noted that the decision of the Kwande people to give the Benue North-East Senatorial seat to Governor Gabriel Suswam is to prepare him for higher political office in future.
“We have a plan for governor Suswam, so our decision for him to become senator in 2015 is to groom him for a bigger position in future. This will be possible because of his good relationship with the serving President of the country, Goodluck Jonathan”, he said.
Governor Gabriel Suswam who condemned media reports that Barnabas Gemade has been given automatic ticket by the Presidency and PDP to return to the senate, described the report as lie and a ploy by those desperate for the seat and are afraid of going to the primaries.
He also assured that the PDP in Benue will conduct a free and fair election, adding “the party has no sacred cows”.
