Angry mob lynch suspected armed robber to death in Delta

Angry Mob in the early hours of Monday allegedly lynched to death Suspected armed bandit in Ughelli North town Delta State after he was caught during a robbery operation in the area.
Sources said that the deceased and his gang members allegedly attacked some business men with locally made guns in the area, but the victims were smart enough to have invited the police who immediately arrived the scene, unfortunately the angry had descended on them with three of the Suspects escaping while the deceased was caught and lynched to death.
Police Commissioner in the State, Hafiz Muhammed Inuwah who Confirmed this to Journalists in the area said” the three suspects had followed the deceased to rob the business men at gunpoint, but the men called the police immediately to the scene, the robbery suspects unknown to them there were some angry mob within who descended on them with severe beating, unfortunately one of them died and others escaped through the bush”.
Hafiz Muhammed Inuwah said that the Police had intensified efforts to ensure the fleeing members of the robbery gang are arrested, adding that the Police will continue to protect the lives and property of the people in the state.
Sources said that the robbery suspects had approached the unsuspecting business men for help during which they pulled their guns and ordered them to surrender all their belongings, unknown to them that some mob were watching from a far who called the police before they moved into them with beating that left one of them dead.
Speaking to Journalists, one of the business men, Edward Job said’ It was a like a firm trick and suddenly the armed bandits descended on us and ordered that we should surrender our belongings, and we obyed but God on our side we were able to get the police involved and some angry mob around saved us in their hands, God is great”.
