Leadership of the Abuja Municipal Area Council(AMAC) has challenged Councilors representing the 12 wards within the council on developmental projects capable of adding value to electorate who voted them into office.
Speaking with this medium in an interview, the Secretary to the council, Adamu Halidu disclosed that the mandate was handed down to councilors to enable them fulfill their electioneering campaign to the electorate.
He further observed that such compulsory mandate on counselors has yielded many positive results, making many to wake up in order to provide at least one project to their constituents whom he said some were already fade up with opposition style of leadership before his party wrestled power.
Responding to question whether the council might facilitate a recall process against any counselor who will carry out the mandate on them by the council said: “ although we may not negotiate a recall against any counselor, electorate may begin to do so if they refuse to live up to the expectations of those who voted for him”.
AMAC secretary also disclosed how his council within a short period has upgraded and promoted different traditional rulers in all the twelve wards of the council, placing them on salary to enable them contribute effectively to the day to day running of the council.
He advised all to exercise patient with his government as anti-graft war is unstoppable, stressing that a committee on tenement rate collection in the council was constituted to cleanse up the system as well as ensure transparency and prudent fund management.
