Abuja Municipal Area Council Coaches Association chapter Wednesday emerged champions of 2nd edition of Alaba Yahaya Unity Cup.
To emerge champions the, AMAC Coaches defeated their arch-rivals State House coaches chapter 7-6 on penalties to take home the coveted trophy
The final witnessed great football artistry with chances created but not utilised by each side. Fans and members of each teams cheered their players all through the match which ended goalless after duration.
In the penalty shootout, AMAC Scored 7 out of 8 while State House scored 6.
Speaking after the victory, AMAC coaches handler, Coach Adanna Nwaneri expressed joy over the victory and commended her players for lifting the trophy.
Coach Adanna who was visibly elated over the victory added that prior to the final, players of the State House had taunted her that they would beat her by at least 3-0.
She commended the FCT Coaches Association for organising the tournament in honour of their former late chairman Alaba Yahaya.
“I am really happy today (Wednesday) for winning the trophy. The coaches, I mean the players did their best. In the beginning they were anxious but I needed to calm them down and we took the game to them.
“It is not easy to dethrone the champions but we did it and I praise the players for putting in their best.
“I want to commend the FCT Coaches Association for this tournament which has been very successful. This is the second edition in honour of our late former chairman, Alaba Yahaya.
“We are going to prepare extra hard to defend the cup next year,” she concluded.
