The Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Abdullahi Adamu Candido, has stressed the importance of more citizenry support to the present government, in its efforts to move the nation forward.
Candido made this point while addressing citizens during an All Progressives Congress (APC) Zonal rally in Nyanya ward in AMAC, on Tuesday.
At the rally, the Chairman unveiled four vehicles (Ford Focus) procured to facilitate the undertaking of political movement in the four wards of the Zone, which are Nyanya, Karu, Karshi and Orozo.
According to him, the only good thing that happened to this Council and the nation as whole was that President Muhammadu Buhari was in power to reposition the collapsed economy he inherited from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) regime.
He said if citizens had made mistake in returning PDP to power in 2015, there wouldn’t have been Nigeria by now.
“We should not be shy away from saying the fact, history will not forgive us if we fail to say it the way it is. A previous administration administered this nation for 16 years and happily it was cut short from its hopeful 60 years wish to be in power to 16 years, because if it had happened, there wouldn’t have been Nigeria again.
“But for only 16 years of their regime, Nigeria was almost dying and there was no country to be called Nigeria again in 2018, if that party had remained in power it would have been worst now.
“ People may not understand why Buhari come to power this time around, this is a man in all the time he had the opportunity to come to power, he is under Herculean task.
“In 1983 before Buhari came to power, Nigerians was almost disintegrated from the hands of the power that be then.
“He came, but because we are not patient, he was ousted just when he spent one and a half years in office, then corruption became the order of the day from people that took over from him.
“And that was when Nigerians began to witness an institutionalized corruption and we never have it so right again.
“I am telling you, we must be praying to God to keep Buhari in power beyond 2019, so that we can have a country that we can call Nigeria. If we don’t pray for this government to succeed itself, we will all suffer for it.
“But we are happy today that Nigerians are having Buhari as our leader, an incorruptible person, he doesn’t need anything from you, all that concern him is how to fix the nation.
“Those who are used to stealing money are not happy with him and that is why they want to come back again. Go and tell them they must wait, because there is no vacancy in the Aso Rock.
“If we make a mistake of voting Buhari out in 2019, our children will not forgive us.
