Governor Umar Tanko Almakura yesterday donated the sum of 200 million Naira to the Nigeria Army in order to enhance the ongoing construction of army barracks situated in Doma Local Government Council of the state.
The governor announced the donation at the Presidential Lodge Lafia, the state capital when he received lieutenant General Tukur Buratai on a courtesy visit.
Almakura who told his guest (Buratai) that he has overwhelmed with the effort being exhibited by the military in ensuring peace reign across the country by combating the menace perpetrated by bad elements in the society today, said,” I commend Mr. President and you for the exercise embarked in my corridor for the taking the issues of security paramount. I commend you for fighting the Boko haram menace in this country. I assured total support and collaboration to enable you succeed on your exercise to bringing lasting solution to Nasarawa and Benue borders crisis.”
Also speaking, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai said that the army has embarked on a special exercise in order to address internal security.
“ I urged government to support the officers to achieve the set goal to bring peace to the affected areas.”
The Chief of Army staff maintained that the exercise is not targeted on an individual, or group but aimed at bringing normalcy to the affected people to go back to their respective homes and continue with their normal activities.
“ We have on record that about 25,00 people are displaced in Nasarawa state. We understand what you are facing . we want the IDPs to go back to their homes. We want people to embark on their legitimate activities for the development of their communities and the country as a whole,” Buratai added
