Determined to rid off all forms of criminal activities, the Divisional Police Officer ( DPO), Onicha Olona Police Division, SP Chidi Usulor on Tuesday confirmed the arrest of one Emmanuel Mokogwu, a 33 year-old self acclaimed pastor for allegedly extorting the sum of N550,000 from a woman identified as miss Theresa Okolie under false prophecies.
SP Chidi Usulor who spoke to our correspondent on telephone said that the suspect was picked up on Monday evening on intelligence gathering, adding that upon interrogation, he (suspect) confessed to have been ordained at the Winners’ Chapel over four years ago, and that his victim offered him the money in appreciation for her healing.
SP Chidi Usulor said that the suspect admitted praying and prophesying for her that her house was covered with darkness, so much hatred and unforeseen untimely death, a situation that forced the woman in fear of the unknown to have parted with the money in installments.
But miss Theresa Okolie who also spoke to our correspondent on telephone said that” I thought he used charm on me , and immediately he told me that my house was covered with darkness, and that there was hatred among my siblings and untimely death hanging around me. I believed him and started running around to raise the money he asked and fortunately, I was able to raise N350,000 and took it to him, after which I paid the balance to him”.
