Alleged killing of Jos travellers: Court postpones hearing

From Ado Abubakar Musa, Jos

The Plateau state High Court II sitting in Jos, yesterday postponed the case of the alleged killing of five Nasarawa travellers which has been filed by the state commissioner of Police against Mr. Joglang Jatau and seven others.

It would be recalled that on 24th of last month, five Nasarawa travellers who were on their way from Gombe state where they celebrated Maulud to their home state (Nasarawa state) were attacked and killed at Rayfield in Jos-South Local government area of the state by some youths of the area.

The filed case, presided over by Justice Y.G Dakwak, is alleging the suspects of killing the five travellers.

After reading of the case to the alleged suspects, the lawyer of the accused persons, Barr. Gyang Zi, prayed the court to grant the suspects bail. But the Prosecuting Counsel, Mr. A.O Lambe countered the application, in which the court was satisfied with prosecutor’s argument and refused to grant the bail.

Lambe explained that the case was a criminal one and therefore too soon to grant bail to the defender.

The case has been postponed to 27th of this month for further hearing of the motion filed by the counsel to the suspects.
