From Yakubu Mustapha, Minna

The Governor of Niger State, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu has been sadistically quoted out of context when his explanation over lying trend among some politicians was taken as his position on political affairs.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Israel A. Ebije yesterday in Minna intimated that the reaction of the Niger All Progressives Congress (APC) only expressed their twisted understanding of the governor’s statement which they are now using to perpetuate hate and bitterness in Niger politics.

Ebije noted that the Niger State governor was in his characteristic manner expressing concern over the trend where politicians are seen more as liars, adding that he never referred to himself or the political class as persons who must commit themselves to fallacious lifestyle to remain relevant in politics.

“It is indeed very sad and sadistically hostile to allow politics eclipse what is left of rational reasoning on the issue of the Niger State governor’s free and very candid opinion of the trend where politicians are seen as liars”

“He used the word ‘liars’ when he was jokingly telling a female politician at an interactive session that she had acted differently in a world where politicians tell lies to remain relevant in political affairs”

The governor’s spokesman said it is very clear that the opposition is desperately seeking relevance, hence waiting for opportunity to blackmail in futile attempt to hustle sympathy from the masses in the next general election.

Ebije said no amount of blackmail from the opposition will affect the ruling Peoples Democratic party (PDP) in Niger State, intimating that the quantum of dividend of democracy under the watch of Governor Aliyu will make the people vote overwhelmingly for the PDP.
