Al makura marks 62nd birthday, embarks on “Peace Walk”

Lafia the Nasarawa state capital city was at the weekend filled up to capacity with thousands of loved ones as well as party supporters of Governor Tanko Al makura as he celebrated his 62 birthday as well as embarked on a “peace walk” rally, with a call on the people of the state to live in peace with one another irrespective of tribe, religion and political affiliation.

Al makura, who decried the incessant crisis bedeviling the southern parts of the state which has resulted to the loss of lives and destruction of millions of properties, admonishing those affected in the skirmishes to exercise patience as his administration is doing everything possible to bring an end to the menace as well as provide them with shelters to cushion the effect.

He described the week as a “week” of love, sharing, unity and harmony amongst the diverse nationalities in the state as well as prayed for peace to reign in the state.

The activities which kick- started with “peace walk” by Governor Almakura from the Stadium junction Bukan Sidi and terminated at the Presidential Lodge, Shendam road, where he released pigeons into the air, signifying “peace”.

Al makura, who further visited the Lafia prisons, Bege and and Maimuna Joyce Katai Orphanage Homes where food items and financial assistance were also rendered as well as 15 inmates who regained their freedom.
