Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero is ready to take a pay cut in order to play alongside his countrymate, Lionel Messi.
Mundo Deportivo has revealed that Aguero wants to play alongside Messi at the Camp Nou when his contract ends in the summer; City yet to offer the striker a new deal at the club.
Barcelona doesn’t want to pay Aguero the same amount he is earning at City due to their financial struggles but the player is ready to take a pay cut in order to fulfill his dream; the financial struggles at Barca seeing them linked with free agents David Alaba and ex-La Masía star Eric García from Manchester City.
According to the reports, Aguero is willing to reduce his salary in exchange for a sign-on bonus, given that he would be a “free” transfer. His close friendship with Lionel Messi could also be pivotal in keeping the star at Camp Nou.
The Argentine who is City’s all-time leading scorer has spent ten seasons with the club winning 13 trophies and scoring 256 goals. He has however struggled to find playing time this season due to injuries, making only 11 appearances.
Barca are in the market for a striker after failing to replace Luis Suarez who left them in the summer for Atletico Madrid.
