Some aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa state have said that the just concluded ward and Local Government Congresses in the state were characterised by injustices of imposition and impunity. The members have also vowed to remain in the party and fight for internal democracy with the last drop of blood in their veins.
Spokesman of the aggrieved members from Mayo-Belwa Local Government area, Mr Mathias Yohanna, said that they had forwarded their complaints to the party, demanding for the cancellation of the result of the congress in Mayo-Belwa due to non compliance with party guidelines.
Yohamna urged the party to do something urgently to ensure internal democracy in the party for the emergence of acceptable and popular leadership of the APC at all levels in Adamawa.
He said they have hoped that the party Tribunal saddled with the responsibility of addressing their grievances and ensuring justice and fairness to all members.
“We remain resolute on the final decision of the Appeal Tribunal of our great party which will soon join us in the state from the national headquarters Abuja.
“We call on our members to remain united and focused against any impunity or anti democratic tendencies that will mar our democratic gains,” Yohanna said.
He alleged that fake party register was used for the congress in some wards by those he described as “Government and their cohorts” to disfranchised others from participating in the congress.
“The congresses held at Mayo-Belwa Local Government was a compete sham, and a negation of democratic principles and tenets” , Yohanna said.
Yohanna, a former Commissioner of information in the state reminded the alleged conspirators that are causing confusion in the ongoing congresses are the same people who were chased out or the PDP because of impunity.
He however warned that if the problem is not address squarely on time, it will destroy the party and allow their opponents to have a field day.
