They Katsina state Governor, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari has again assured that the All Progressives Congress, APC administration would continue to evolve social security systems to reduce poverty in the country.
Masari was speaking yesterday during the launching of the conditional cash transfer programme in Rimi Local Government Area of the State.
The Governor observed that government could not provide adequate security in a society with people afflicted by poverty.
He explained that the APC social security systems is similar to the programmes being implemented in advanced and Arab worlds to cushion the effects of poverty that made youths to engage in social vices such as armed robbery, banditry and above all insurgency.
Masari announced that the programme will in future be assisting people with no jobs and skills that are above 18 years, adding that the programme will overlooked partisanship and religious dogma in assisting vulnerable in the country.
In Katsina state, Governor Masari said the government had demonstrated that through implementation of policies on education, health, agriculture and security without politicisation of the sectors.
Masari requested women that would benefit from the cash transfer programme to utilize the proceeds in engaging in trades to enhance their livelihood.
This, he said would enable them to allow female children to go to school. He said the social security systems would also benefit youths .
Masari said the state government would ensure that all graduates of NCE are engaged through S-Power ,stressing that in future, the S-Power would recruit 2 to 3 thousand university graduates.
In her remarks, the special Adviser to the Governor on Girl Child Education, Hajiya Binta Abba explained that the conditional cash transfer programme is being implemented in 12 local governments with each senatorial zone having four local governments.
At today’s occasion, she said the beneficiaries would receive the 9 and 10 phases of the payments, adding that so far one billion two hundred million naira had been disbursed in Katsina state since the programme started in the state.
Hajiya Binta Abba revealed that 45,602 households have been benefiting from the programme.
Both the transition committee chairman of Rimi local government, Alhaji Abdullahi Turaji and the District Head of Rimi,Alhaji Nuhu Abdulkadir expressed gratitude to Governor Masari for selecting Rimi to launch the social security system in the area.
Alhaji Nuhu Abdulkadir used the occasion to thank the Governor for the award of contract for the rehabilitation of Rimi semi urban water supply project.
The state coordinator of conditional cash transfer programme, Alhaji Shafiu Abdullahi revealed that Bakori leads with 34 million naira monthly disbursement while Baure follows with 30 million naira monthly,stressing that beneficiaries receive five thousand naira monthly from the scheme.
