There was indication yesterday that a bomb explosion might have hit an Army base in Gombe, Peoples Daily learnt last night.
Eyewitness told our correspondent that the incident occurred at exactly 8:15pm, when an explosion went-off at the gate of Mammy Market, in Gombe.
He said even though he could not ascertain the level of casualties during the blast, there was indication that there were loss of lives recorded during the incident.
The source also said that the bomber kept the explosive in a container close to the gate of Mammy Market, where soldiers used to screen civilians before they proceed into the barrack, in order to relax with their loved ones.
He said the bomber might have been targeting the soldiers, who were manning the gates of the barrack, noting that Gombe Mammy Market is one of the busiest place where civilians used to relax with friends in the evening.
Speaking further, he said the casualties could be high because there was possibility of crowds being there, who may be trying leave the barrack to their various destinations.
It could be recalled that two weeks ago, a female bomber disguised as a passenger and dropped a bag containing explosives, which killed nineteen people and injured many others.
