The leading Anambra governorship candidate for the November 6 election, on the platform of All progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has declared that his commitment to serve the people of Anambra has further been spurred on following the attack on him few days back in Isuofia by some gun men.
Soludo said this while responding to a question during an interview monitored on Arise TV, if his ambition to contest the 2021 Anambra gubernatorial election was anyway deterred by the recent attack on him which led to the death of three policemen.
He said if good people allow few evil people to take over the society, the good people will live to regret it, adding that no society or community has ever made progress or any meaningful development when evil people take over.
He also said when good people refuse to participate in democratic processes, fools can take over governance and the good people will be subject to their evil rule.
He emphasized that with the overwhelming messages, support and prayers he received from the good people of Anambra State and Nigerians across the federation, “if his commitment was 50% before, it has now been spurred on to 98%”.
Soludo also said other aspirants in the other political parties in the state also jostling for the coveted governorship seat with him are like brothers and sisters to him. He said in their own individual capacity, they have the right to aspire to the coveted position, noting that he has respect for all the aspirants and he holds them in high esteem.
He reiterated that his chances to fly the APGA ticket are very bright considering the massive support the Anambra people have given him, which he said is increasing everyday.
He said for over 18 months now, there has been massive clamour from about 24 self-funding Support Groups scattered all over Anambra and beyond, expending their resources, time and energy, urging him to contest the governorship election.
He said this kind of clamour and support is unprecedented in the political history of the state, just as he also canvassed for Option-A4 to be adopted for the APGA primary, stressing that it will make the conduct of the primary and the entire process more transparent, free and fair.
While commiserating with the families of the three policemen who lost their lives during the attack, he said government should support all the security agencies in the country by further equipping them, providing more training and improving their welfare.
The governorship aspirant harped on the need for good intelligence gathering and information from the Nigerian public to help the security agencies fight crime more decisively.
He commended Governor Willie Obiano for the great legacy projects he is bequeathing to the people of Anambra state and other developments he has brought to bear in the state.
