The Association for Formidable Educational Development (AFED) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Chapter has sworn-in seven executive members of the association at Abuja Palace Hotel in Gwagwalada.
The swearing-in ceremony was performed by the National President of AFED, Hon. Orji Kalu on Wednesday at Abuja Palace Hotel, Gwagwalada, FCT.
In his speech at the occasion, Kalu said the association would provide platforms for advocacy as well as in-service training for the members of AFED.
He said: “Other deliverable made available for the members include loan facilities through our thrift and co-operative, joint examinations, online registration, trainings and many more”.
He emphasised that it was the responsibility of AFED to provide qualitative as well as quantitative educational services to the low income households in the country.
This according to AFED president, “we have developed a model, which is unique to AFED with the sole aim of reducing out of school children”.
His words: “It is our belief that we can solve our own problem by providing access to education for male and female, children and youths at no cost or low. And that is why we have instituted scholarship, increased membership base and capacity”.
He therefore, urged the FCT AFED executives to join hands to work for the progress of the association in the FCT and Nigeria at large.
In his inaugural speech, the AFED Comptroller in the FCT, Mrs Ojobor Bethel, said she would work hard to move the association to the next level.
“To my fellow executives in AFED FCT Chapter, my few words of advice to us is that, we should rise and update our way of thinking, perception and actions, because the call to us now is a call for participation, a call to demonstrate our commitment and not a call for relaxation. It is now a call for action and hard work and not a call for achieving selfish ambitions. The call today is to bear the burden of each other and not a call for self-righteousness and criticism”.
She called on the proprietors of AFED schools to always provide quality educational services for the children in the country, pleading with them to assist the child at all times.
“Today, we AFEDIANS are justifiable proud of what we are doing because AFED is an entity that is capable of bringing wholesome and up-to-date change to the door step of our schools”, the AFED Comptroller said.
The inauguration’s theme: Adopting to the New Normal (Digital) Trend in Educational System for every FCT Child in post Covid-19 Era”.
