The acting director, Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB), Mrs. Aishat Adebayo, has reiterated the need for Federal Capital Territory (FCT) residents to ensure a cleaner and hygienic city for all by taking charge of their immediate environment.
She said they should see the FCT administration’s quest towards sustainable environment in the territory, as part of their civic responsibility and duty of care to the environment.
According to a statement signed by the AEPB’s head, Information and Outreach Programme, Joe Ukairo, at the weekend, the director, made this call during a media chat after being conferred with the Administrative Personality Of The Year award during the just concluded 2nd Annual Capital Territory Advancement Award (CTAA) organized by NewWaves Innovations.
The statement added that she noted that the government alone cannot do all that is required for a sustainable environment in any society, without community buy-in and support.
“If every household and business premise will provide adequate waste bin for waste storage at source, keep their immediate surroundings clean and encourage others within their circle of influence to do same, the city will be cleaner and hygienic for the wellbeing of present and future generations”, Adebayo stressed.
