The Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and chairman, Senate committee on power, Senator Philip Aduda, has received a Senior Advocate of Peace award, in recognition of his role towards building bridges for peace throughout FCT and beyond.
The Commandant, Peace Corps of Nigeria, Mr. Dickson Akor, who bestowed the award on him, during the Senator’s 45th birthday ceremony, at the weekend, in Abuja, described him as epitome of peace in FCT, noting he is the first sitting senator to be bestowed with the international recognition for peace.
“We use this your birthday to present you this award which you were noinated purely on merit for your contribution in peace building in our society”, Akor Said.
Receiving the award, Aduda who thanked Peace Corps of Nigeria, for recognising him, said the award is an inspirational that is going to spur him to do more.
“This recognition is so special from you people, in fact am surprise with the turn up of people to this on announced birthday, it pays to be in touch with the people, this is a lesson every leader must learn, am amazed and I promise to do more”, the Senator Said
Aduda also used the occasion to charge FCT residents to be vigilante and security conscious where ever they may find themselves.
Earlier, Chairman, Bwari Area Council, Yohanna Ushafa, described Aduda as a role model and political icon in FCT, who thinks about the people first, and asked young politicians to emulate him.
“I have never seen a man like this, who thinks more about his people than his self, every day I thank God for given us a man like this to our people, his is worthy of emulation, and I pray God to grant him more fruitful years”, he said.
