Admit fright over Agbajes’s emergence, PDP tells APC

From Ayodele Samuel, Lagos

The Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described as laughable and an obvious sign of fright and discomfort for the Lagos APC, the attempt by the party to decide for PDP it’s governorship candidate.

In a statement credited to John Igbokwe, the APC publicity secretary, had opined that Obanikoro is more qualified than Agbaje to be PDP candidate for the governor of Lagos State.

PDP in a statement signed by Taofix Gani wondered why the Lagos APC has become a busy body in PDP affairs to be so worried about the rightful choice of PDP to elect its candidate.

According to the Lagos PDP, the choice of Jimi Agbaje at this time will no doubt end the almost monarchical control of Tinubu’s APC in the state and that is why the APC leadership in the state has continued to suffer from hallucinations since the emergence of Agbaje, an unblemished personality.

The Lagos PDP threw back at the APC to explain why it has imposed as party candidate, Akin Ambode, reportedly forced on retirement by Fashola and who cannot even account for the disbursement of state funds during his tenure as accountant general.

The party opined that the APC choice of Ambode over more experienced and disciplined persons like Sasore, Femi Hamzat, Solomon, Leke Pitan, is nothing but a compensation for Ambode’s roles in covering up the frauds in the state during the Tinubu administration.

“We have elected our governorship candidate and find it funny that APC can preach to us on who ought to be our candidate. Obviously Senator Obanikoro or any of our other aspirants is better than the best APC has presented. Their advice is therefore in bad faith as they are our detractors. Indeed the APC is now confirmed as being behind the violence that happened on the day of the governorship primary because they intended another choice for us. We have no doubt that our eventual choice has jolted them and they know their defeat is now imminent. Whilst we confirm the capabilities of our other aspirants, we stand by our choice of Agbaje and beat our chest that it is the end of the road for APC in Lagos State,” Gani said.
