Governor Umaru Tanko Al-makura of Nasarawa State at the weekend in a media chat with journalists in Lafia said that the defection of Senator Abdullahi Adamu from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) has added value to the party in the state and the country at large.
His words’’ Senator Adamu’s coming to the party has added more value to the APC more than five persons that left the party. The people who left the party are not even my problem. I want to assure you that the people I am campaigning with them now are valuable personalities which Senator Adamu is one of them. I am optimistic that APC win at all levels”.
He further opined that all those that defected from other political parties to the APC, are patriotic personalities, as according to him, their intention is not for Al-makura but for the interest of the state and the country at large.
The governor maintained that the APC is a patriotic political party that follows the truth democratic tenets because of the disciplined and patriotic Nigerians who dumped other political parties due to injustices to form the APC and by the grace of God the party shall win the polls.
He continued, “Blocks from the south-west, east and north all came together for the interest of this country on the platform of the APC. I urge Nigerians to vote General Buhari as he has assured good things for the people of this country viewed from his antecedents” he added.
Almakura assured journalists that if re-elected, he will adhere to the culture of maintenance, accountability, transparency and prudence, stressing that his administration is serious about accountability and prudence.
“Because of my prudency, I borrowed N10 billion loans from the bank which is used for constructing new modern markets and other projects ongoing in the state and out of the N10 billion, N7 billion has been paid already. And even today if I am leaving the office, any person coming can only be left with N3billion as loan left unpaid. But I assure you that I am paying the N3 billion soon” Al-makura explained.
The governor however urged the people of the state to vote wisely in order to bring credible people to leadership and also enjoined them not to allow their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) to be tampered with by desperate politicians who move around trying to buy PVCs from the electorate for the interest of acquiring power by force.
