Palpable fear has gripped the residents of Kofare Quarters and Government Tractors Hiring Department residents around Bachure Quarters due to continued attacks by suspected syndicate of armed robbers in Yola North Local Government of Adamawa State.
Checks by our correspondent in Yola revealed that the latest of the syndicate’s armed robbery was the ambush on innocent residents in these areas where over fifteen households were attacked in the wee hours of Saturday night.
Monies and valuables worth thousands of Naira were forcefully carted away, according to findings.
A victim who spoke to our reporter on the condition of anonymity, said the criminal gang came in their numbers holding dangerous weapons destroying the entrance doors of each house, beating and forcing their victims to produce cash and valuables.
He narrated that when they stroke in to his house,he rushed and hid in the rest room of his room leaving his wife on the bed, but had to come out when they threatened to kill his wife if she refuses to tell them his whereabouts at that moment, a situation that forced him to appear before them.
He added that, they gave him the beating of his life and collected the little money with him and that of his wife,then carted away their plasma wall television mounted on the wall in the leaving room.
Another female resident who simply identified herself as Mrs. Sarah at the Bachure Quarters near Tractors Hiring office, said they took her money worth N130.000 despite her pleading with them to have mercy on her.
She said they also collected her mobile phones and plasma television.
“When they broke into my house ,they threatened to kill me if I refused to cooperate with them, then I told them the money belongs to my church and would be used the following day, Sunday for church activities but they replied no matter whose money it was,they don’t care.
“In our compound,those bad guys about 30 in number forcefully broke in to twelve flats beating and collecting money and any valuable at their sight .
“We urged security operatives to do something urgent to safeguard our lives and property because it was a traumatic experience for us with our families,” Sarah narrated.
When contacted on the development, Adamawa State Police Command image maker,DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje said he is yet to be briefed on the matter, promising to inquire from the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Kofare Division for the true picture of the attacks for necessary action.
