The Adamawa State Police Command has gunned down three suspected kidnappers among a notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorising innocent residents of Jada and its environs in Jada Local government Area of the state.
Spokesman of the Command, DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje made the disclosure through a press statement issued in Yola Tuesday indicating that the three killed suspected kidnappers met their waterloo during a shootout with the police at Kojoli town on Sunday.
DSP Nguroje said the police in conjunction with local hunters have engaged the gunmen after they abducted and killed one Alhaji Panyo Kojoli between 10:00pm – 11:00p.
“Adamawa State Police Command wish to inform members of the general public that on the 15/3/2020 between the hours of 10-11pm. The command in collaboration with Hunters went after the kidnappers and killers of Alhaji Panyo Kojoli.
“ The criminals who armed themselves with guns and dangerous weapons engaged our operatives in a shootout as a result three of the kidnappers were gunned down while three escaped with bullet wounds.
“The Command equally recovered one AK 47 Assault rifle with four lives ammunitions and charms from the kidnappers.
‘The Command wishes to assure members of the general public that it will continue going after the criminals in their hideouts and called on the general public to cooperate and give useful information to police.
“The Command while appreciating members of the general public, equally advice public to report to police any suspected criminals around them,” he said.
A local hunter who spoke to our reporter on phone confirmed that upon receiving alert on the kidnapped businessman, the hunters quickly mobilized and gave them a hot chase leading to the success recorded.
In a related development, the police has also arrested two out the kidnapping gang terrorising residents of Shagari Quarters,Bole ,Lakare and Unguwar Buro-Uba in Yola South local government council of the state.
DSP Nguroje stated that the suspects; Tanimu Yakubu and Alfa Marcus were apprehended on the 15th March at about 9.00pm after attacking a commercial tricyclist with a fabricated locally made pistol.
He added that timely intervention of some operatives attached to Mopol 14 Base Yola made the arrest of the duo possible as they are assisting the command with useful information on their criminal activities .
