From Umar Dankano, Yola
Senator Ishaku Cliff Abbo, representing Adamawa Northern Zone, has urged the stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to wade into the lingering crisis rocking the party in the state with a view to saving it from total collapse.
Senator Abbo made his position public on a local radio programme monitored in Yola yesterday, stressing that the political rigmarole been experienced in the party was due to injustices mated out on some party chieftains and their supporters during congresses.
Abbo said that the refusal of the party to address the internal squabble informed the formation of the reformed PDP called rPDP led by Umar Ardo, stressing that any Battalion of army or political group been faced by infighting is definitely heading to a crash.
He observed that a party is a property to all party membership, not to a personality who used the platform to attain to a political post at whatever level.
“The fact is that a political party like us is supposed to belong to everyone, especially loyal members, as they all contributed in its making from the scratch.
“But in a situation where after victory at the polls, then someone is using his position to enforce his principles on other party members, then resistance become imminent or apparent, Abbo highlighted.
Senator Abbo announced that his solid support is behind Ardo’s faction of the PDP in the state, insisting that his rPDP movement seem to be on the right track for the betterment of democracy and electorate.
He therefore advised the government and state executive of the party to do the needful by following towards the path of honor and integrity.
Peoples Daily recalls that last Thursday, the rPDP inaugurated its 12-man committee state executives under the leadership of Alhaji Hammajoda Gerei.
