From Umar Dankano, Yola
The Adamawa state factional Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (rPDP), Alhaji Jauro Hammanjoda Girei, has described the new party membership registration ongoing in the state as a huge success considering the massive turn out by aggrieved members.
Hammanjoda Girei said this at his ward (Ward one, Unit 004) in Girei local government area of the state shortly after being registered on the PDP register, saying that reports coming from most councils and wards have revealed that the exercise commenced peacefully.
Girei therefore charged party members to visit their wards where these registration centers are stationed to be registered and collect their new party membership cards duely signed by the National chairman, Chief Uche Secondus.
Girei, who registered at around ten O’clock Friday morning, expressed optimism that his faction of the party is doing the needful in the interest of their followers who felt sidelined by the Barrister A.T Shehu faction in the scheme of things in the party.
The chairman told journalists on monitoring exercise that his local government was having over 6000 membership cards in custody for the exercise.
Adding his voice on the exercise, chairman of the rPDP of Girei local government area, Honourable Gabriel George stated that what is happening in the party in the state is nothing more than democracy in action where divergent interests are at play.
George expressed satisfaction with the turn out of the people for the registration, urging them to be conducting themselves calm up to the last day of the exercise.
Our correspondent who visited some registration points in Girei, Yola South and Yola North local government areas, reported that the exercise was observed under calm atmosphere.
Recalls that the party is experiencing internal crisis due to alleged high handedness and impunity mated on some aggrieved members of the party who resolved to form a faction within nicknamed rPDP led by a chieftain,Dr Umar Ardo.
