The reviewing of lockdown order by Adamawa state Governor Umaru Ahmadu Fintiri earlier imposed on to tame the incursion of the novel COVID-19 disease in the state has been described as right step towards the right direction.
Adamawa state Muslims Council gave the description in a press statement signed by its chairman,GAmbo Jika noting that the gesture will go a long way in addressing the hardship facing the people.
Jika stressed that the review noted that the move will uplift their economic status of the citizens especially those in the business ventures.
He advised Muslim faithfuls to continue to fast and pray for quick end to the COVID19 pandemic currently ravaging the world.
He appealed to corporate organizations, philanthropists, NGOs, CSOs to assist the needy noting that this is the best time to come to the rescue of the people.
The chairman further advised all mosque committees across the state to provide hand washing facilities at the entrance of mosques and to ensure that every individual washes his hands properly with soap before getting inside the mosque.
Jika also calls on Muslims to maintain social distance during congregational prayers, reminding them not to accomodate more than fifty worshipers at a time to avoid the spread of the virus among populace.
He further commended Islamic organizations and Muslims in the state for the co-operation during the lockdown and urged them to maintain the same spirit by strictly following Doctors’ advice which include avoiding handshakes, touching mouths, nose and eyes and to wear face mask in every crowded area.
He further called on them to comply with Government regulations such as closing of Educational Institutions across the state and avoiding all gatherings that will attract more than fifty persons.
The Chairman stressed that managing Corona Virus pandemic is a collective effort as the disease does not have respect for religion, tribe or political affiliation of any person.
He said: “The Council will continue to give maximum support to the Government policies and will continue to cooperate with all other relevant agencies in fighting COVID19.”
