The kidnapped Divisional Police Officer,DPO in charge of Mubi North Local Government Area Divisional Headquarters of Adamawa State, DSP Ahijo Muhammad has been rescued alive and healthy.
This development was contained in a press statement issued by the Command’s spokesman,DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje in Yola weekend saying the Adamawa State Police Operation Puff Ader and Operation Farauta after a serious search in the bush rescued him(DPO) from his abductors.
Recall that DSP Muhammad was abducted last week Wednesday along Yola-Mubi road while going back to his station and taken to unknown destination.
Subsequently his abductors demanded for N20 million as ransom for his release, a situation that drew the Command and his immediate family in to panic following a deadline that was issued by the abductors.
According to the statement ,the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit has since swung in to action of investigating the matter with a view to apprehending the culprits for prosecution.
It is not yet clear whether money exchanged hands with the abductors as ransom, as unconfirmed report is being speculated that certain undisclosed amount was given to the abductors before his release.
Our correspondent reports that issue of kidnapping is taking its toll in the state especially on professors in the tertiary institutions and now taking a new dimension on security personnel.
