The Adamawa Commissioner of Police, Daniel Abakasanga might have single handedly ordered the withdrawal of some policemen attached to the government House in the state, a reliable source informed Peoples Daily yesterday.
The CP was advised against the decision by his team of officers but that he allegedly rebuffed them and proceeded to withdraw uniformed regular policemen attached to the Adamawa government House without recourse to the Police headquarters in Abuja. He did not also inform the state governor before effecting the withdrawal, the source alleged.
But in a reaction, the Police Public Relation Officer, DSO Othman Abubakar, denied the allegation saying that policemen attached to the government House were still carrying out their duties.
Meanwhile the Director of Press to Nyako, Ahmed Sajoh said up till yesterday, Nyako was yet to be informed as to why the policemen attached to the government House were withdrawn.
“We still have not got any information from the police authorities. We notice some of the policemen are not on duty in government House. At first we thought it was routine changes to reposition security around the government House. So we are still waiting. “It does not bother us. The security in Nyako’s residence where he stays is complete, so there is no qualms,” he said.
Reports had indicated that policemen attached to the Adamawa government House were at the weekend were reduced from 170 to 30.
Also, 30 operatives that were yet to be redeployed had been asked to mount security in Yola, Abuja and the Lagos offices of Adamawa state government.
According to the Director of Press to Nyako, Ahmed Sajoh who was contacted for a reaction, Nyako was not informed either by the Adamawa Commissioner of Police or the headquarters in Abuja, but that he is keeping his fingers crossed.
