Adamawa bye election: PDP lauds Fintiri’s aspiration

From Umar Dankano, Yola

Adamawa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday lauded the aspiration of the acting Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri following the feats he achieved as a member of the party on many fronts especially in reclaiming back the stolen mandate of the party.

While receiving the acting governor who notified the party secretariat of his intention to contest the by-election, the state chairman of the party, Chief Joel Madaki, stated that currently, fake membership cards of the party are being circulated by desperate politicians who want to get leverage over other contestants just as he said fake delegates are being recruited by such politicians.

“Yesterday, we got information that there are those who bought membership cards and after that, we have been told that already fresh membership cards are been printed here in the state with intention to

induce our local government secretaries so as to include the names into our main registers with the sole aim to get the requisite 3 delegates that can be used during the party primaries.

“We will not take that lightly. So, let them continue printing. On our part, we have suspended membership registration,” Madaki stated.

Madaki pledged to sanction any member of the party who commits such offence adding that if left unchecked, the scourge is capable of causing divisions within the party.

“I am happy about Fintiri’s coming to the party secretariat. Last time he came to us when the house impeached Nyako, now he is here again to tell us his intention which I believe good things will follow”

“Our doors is open as a party for everybody to come in and people have been coming in particularly from APC.

“Markus  Gundiri has come, Buba Marwa has come. I was also told that Nuhu Ribadu has joined us.

“We have those who require waiver and those who do not need any waiver and Fintiri is one of those who does not require any waiver”, Madaki said.

He described the acting governor as a blessing to PDP pointing out that the last time he visited the party secretariat, he vowed to recover its stolen mandate from former Governor Nyako. He made good his promise and by that his second coming would also bring good tidings to PDP in the state.

Earlier speaking, the Acting Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri said he was at the party secretariat to notify the party and seek its support and endorsement for his aspiration.

Fintiri said his aspiration was based on popular demand and his commitment to continue his salvation programme for the state.

“Since I assumed leadership having rescued the people of Adamawa from maladministration, the people have asked me to continue”, Fintiri said.

Fintiri reiterated his commitment to the party and Goodluck Jonathan transformation agenda, adding that his administration and people of Adamawa have endorsed Goodluck Jonathan for 2015.
