Adamawa attacks: UNICEF, UNFPA, others support victims with relief materials

The United Nations Population Fund,United Nations Children’s Education Funds,and the United Nations Office for coordination of Humanitarian Affairs,OCHA have provided relief materials to victims of the unknown gunmen attack in some villages of Demsa Local Government Area in Adamawa state.
It could be recalled that last week about six communities were attacked in the early morning hours of Tuesday where thirty seven villagers including Former Commissioner and PDP,State spokesman,Mr.Sam Zadok were killed by the attackers.
Delivering the materials to the state government on Friday in Yola,Representative of the United Nations Populations Fund, Dr. Idrissa Danladi said the support was mainly to cushion the hardship caused by the attack.
Earlier speaking, the Deputy Governor of Adamawa state, Engineer Martins Babale appreciated the humanitarian community for the relief material they have given in other to ease the victims of the hardship.
He urged the Adamawa state Emergency (ADSEMA) to immediately distribute the relief material to the affected villages who are said to be in need of desperate help.
The chairperson of Demsa local government, Mrs Wale Fwa while speaking to journalists during the occasion said the situation is very pathetic as women and children have been lying in open fields and classrooms of a primary school.
She commended the humanitarian actors in rendering help to the affected communities. She also thanked the security agencies for their timely response which has helped in minimizing the number of casualties.
