Ahead of the general elections come 2019, the Adamawa state All Progressives congress (APC) state Executive Committee has resolved to adopt indirect party primaries for various elective positions.
This position was taken after a crucial meeting held at the Government House Yola Banquet hall Monday where all the committee were unanimous on applying indirect approach in the party’s forthcoming primaries in all posts to be contested expect that of the presidential position.
Reading from a communique of the SEC meeting, Secretary of the party in the state, Wafarniyi Theman said the decision followed wide consultations to consider the best option of indirect primaries in the state.
Theman stated that the indirect primaries were adopted for the Governorship, National Assembly and the state House of Assembly towards the 2019 polls.
“The state Executive Committee (SEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at its meeting on Monday 3rd September 2018, having consulted widely to consider the best option for the conduct of the party primaries in Adamawa state, resolved to adopt the indirect primaries for the Governorship, National Assembly and State House of Assembly primaries towards the 2019 General elections”. The communiqué highlighted.
Theman said the meeting was convened in line with the section 12.8 of the party constitution and not stakeholders party as alleged by some quotas.
