Adamawa APC rejects Bindow’s reelection bid, fixes May 5 for congress

Adamawa state All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders under the aegis “The Buhari Project” have rejected the reelection bid of the current governor of the state, Gov Jibrilla Bindow during a one day sensitization meeting on the upcoming congresses of the party.
All those who spoke at the event which includes Sen. Mohammed Abubakar Moallayidi (Adamawa South) Alhaji Usman Ibrahim popularly known as constitution, Alhaji Mijinyawa Kugama, among others, all lambasted the outgoing state exco led by Ibrahim Bilal and the governor for betraying the party and the people of the state, stressing that their leaders are united to flush them out in the party congresses and 2019 election in the state and the country as a whole.
The event was attended by prominent politicians, leaders and followers of President Muhammadu Buhari under the auspices of Buhari/Osinbajo again 2019 ( BOA) political camp of ex-Gov. Murtala Nyako and Abuja based politicians who have since parted ways with the governor and working collectively to replace him in 2019.
Highlight of the event is a communiqué read by the Former SGF Babachir David Lawal where the endorsed the re- election bid of President Muhammadu Buhari and rejected Governor Jibrilla Bindow, as they also promised to mobilize resources and people within and outside the state to ensure Buhari’ re election in 2019.
Chairman of the movement and former Secretary to the Federal Government, Engineer David Lawan Babachir, in his keynote address at the meeting in Yola Weekend said the National Working Committee, NWC, and other caucus of the party have resolved to conduct the party’s congresses across the country.
Babachir announced that the rationale behind the sensitization meeting with the stakeholders was to harmonize with them the best way to undertake such important exercise which will give birth to new leadership for the party.
He charged party members to make sure that all the laid down procedures of the party constitution are followed vigorously, so that justice and fairness are attained; saying that as part of the caucaus, they will always stand for uprightness.
“We assure you of being just on your political choices and desires in these congresses.
“The congresses will be free and fair, which we will make sure it is not available for manipulation by anybody in our party,” Babachir pledged.
Earlier in his speech to the stakeholders, former Senator Abubakar Halilu Girei stated that the congresses will commence on the 5th May, 2018, starting with that of the wards.
Senator Girei added that the exercise would be on election basis, refuting a claim that it will be on appointment and consensus of party members.
“We are officially informing our stakeholders that this forthcoming congresses will be on Election basis not as being rumoured by some mischief makers that it will be on appointment or consensus.
“I enjoy you to go out en masses during the scheduled congresses so that those you want their representation can emerge as leaders for the development of the party and democracy,” Girei stressed.
On his part, the former deputy governor of the state and the immediate past senator representing Adamawa central, Sen.Bello.Tukur called on Buhari supporters not to repeat the mistakes of the past by electing traitors into various party offices in the state who will later betray them, and advice them to elect people of proven integrity whose antecedents and supports to the president and the group is not in doubt.
