The inability of the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to discuss the waiver applications by the the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the former Military Administrator of Lagos state, Gen. Buba Marwa and the former governorship candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Markus Gundiri for the Adamawa state governorship bye election.
This development has heightened anxiety in the camps of the contestants as there are fears that they may be disqualified from participating in the party’s primary ahead of the October 11th governorship election in Adamawa state.
It was learnt that the hope that the PDP NWC would deliberate and approve the waiver application was dashed as the matter was not raised at all at the meeting held yesterday.
There are fears in Ribadu, Marwa and Gundiri’s camps because the duo decamped from the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) and may be disqualified on the ground that they have neither stayed up to years in the party nor have they been granted the required waiver for them to contest the election.
A source in the party’s leadership disclosed that the matter could not be discussed because there are some grey areas which needed to be cleared before the waiver could be approved.
