Accountant docked for receiving stolen property

The police have arraigned an accountant, Chimaraoke Dimgba , in a Zone 2 Senior Magistrates’ court Wuse, Abuja, for receiving stolen property.

Dimgba, who resides at No. 22 Aderito Street, Fafunwa Estate, Ipaje Lagos, was alleged to have bought a stolen car from one Nicholas Ohiro.

The prosecutor, Cpl Emmanuel Adiukwu , told the court that on May 5, one Mr. Emmanuel Ukaegwu of Suite SC. 22, Bannex Plaza Wuse 2 Abuja reported the matter to Maitama Police Station.

Adiukwu told the court that a Nissan Xterra Jeep 2004 model, stolen from the complainant in May by one Ohiro was bought by the accused at 450,000.

Adiukwu informed the court that the offences contravened section 317 of the Penal code.

If convicted, it is punishable with a term not less than 14 years, fine or both.

The accused pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, therefore, prayed the court to grant him a date to open his case against the accused.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Usman Shaibu, admitted him to bail for  N1 million and a surety in like sum who must be a public servant not below Grade Level 10.

He also ordered that the surety must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction and adjourned the matter until July 29 for continuation of hearing (NAN)
