Abuja agog as APC executives return via affirmation amid tight security

There was no dull moment inside and outside the ever lively sports arena in Area 10, Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) at the weekend, as stalwarts of the All Progressives Congress (APC) elected officials to steer the affairs of the party in the Territory.
Despite tight security, which delegates went through, to gain access to the venue for the Congress, serenity and peace filed the atmosphere, even after emergence of Party executives through affirmative (voice vote) process adopted for the exercise in the Territory.
Our correspondent reports that all the party executives in FCT-APC were all returned unopposed an affirmative voting process, which had delegates voicing their approval for each of the state officials.
The officials returned unopposed during the congress include; Hon. Abdulmalik Usman as Chairman, Hon. Musa Ibrahim Jatu as Deputy Chairman, Hon. Hashimu Angama Shuaibu as Secretary and Hon. Felix Udozie as Vice Chairman1.
Others are Hon. Patrick Ogunyimi as Vice Chairman 11, Hon. Shuaibu Sabo Suleiman as Vice Chairman 111, Hon. Mohamed Adamu as Assistant Secretary, Prince Umar Bayero as Treasurer.
Also, Hon. Nasiru Oludemi was returned as Financial Secretary, Hon. Hail-Mary Aipoh as Women Leader, Hon. Emmanuel Sheneni as Youth Leader and Engr. Adaji Usman as party Organising Secretary respectively.
Meanwhile, the Congress was not so perfect process, as some party stalwarts of the Yoruba extraction in the FCT expressed dissenting opinion over the adoption and affirmation of Hon.Nasiru Oludemi as the FCT Financial Secretary.
The All Progressives Congress (APC), in the Federal Capital Territory on Saturday conducted an elective state congress through voice votes, as party stalwarts adjudged congress to be peaceful and successful.
Speaking to at the end of the exercise, the party’s Organising Secretary, Engr. Adaji Usman, described the FCT APC congress as one of the most peaceful throughout the country.
Usman therefore commended loyal party members for achieving this feat, to the admiration of all and sundry within and outside the party in the Territory.
He, equally called on other political parties to learn from the FCT congress of the party.
According to him, “this is one of the most peaceful congress organised by the party. It can’t be better anywhere than what we have all witnessed in the Federal Capital Territory. I challenged other political parties including the PDP to emulate what we have done today.”
While reacting to the dissenting voices by s section of the Yoruba community in the party, Usman stressed that “you cannot get it 100 percent in a gathering of divergent opinions, as the most important thing is that the congress was not only successful but equally peaceful.”
