Abductors of Delta Socialite, his father and friend in his home town Obior, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta state last Sunday in the area, are asking for N100 million naira ransom.
Although, the Police Commissioner in the state, Hafiz Muhammed Inuwah in a swift reaction said that the Police are not aware of such demands, disclosed that efforts were ongoing to apprehend the hoodlums and ensure the release of the victims unhurt at all costs.
It was gathered that the Victims: Elvis Ojeogwu, his Father, Pa Michael Ojeogwu, and his friend, were on Sunday in his family house along with his aged father and family friend abducted at gunpoint and subsequently whisked away to an unknown destination by some hoodlums Suspected to be Kidnappers in a dark Coloured vehicle without a plate number.
But a member of the family who spoke to Journalists on Wednesday on condition of anonymity described the incident as unfortunate adding that” the gunmen operated in a swift manner, so quickly, they bailed up everyone before taking away Elvis, his father and friend in a dark Coloured vehicle without a plate number after shooting sporadically into the air and drove into an unknown destination where they are kept up until now”.
Another family member, Joseph ( surname witheld ) Confirmed that the abductors in the early hours of Tuesday established a ransom Contact of N100million , adding that they warned that the matter should not be reported to the Security agencies or else the Victims will be killed within two days of their demands, adding” We were shocked when they Called demanding for N100million ransom, and the threats and we are working very hard to ensure the money sent to them for them to release our father, brother and his friend, we are also begging the abductors not to Kill our brother and the father including the friend, we shall give them the ransom at all costs”
Police Public Relations Officer in the state,(PPRO) DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya Confirmed the police were working hard to ensure the victims are released unhurt adding over thirty three Cases of Kidnap were recorded in February 2020 as they were subsequently released through the Police intervention and proactiveness during the incident
Meanwhile, Issele Azagba Community on Tuesday resolved to fight back the Suspected Fulani herdsmen who they described had been unfair to the Community in the last few months.
Speaking with Journalists in the Community on Tuesday, the traditional ruler of the Community, Obi Francis Jideuwa said that they have been faced with terrible situation of killings and Kidnappings, adding that many of their residents have fled their homes to elsewhere for fear of the unknown, especially in their farmlands, among others.
