The Chairman of Abaji area council, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Alhaji Yahaya Garba Gawu, has donated about 200,000 exercise books and other instructional materials to primary as well as Junior Secondary Schools in the council.
Gawu, who made the donation during the celebration of his one year anniversary in office, said that his administration had awarded scholarship worth N9million to the deserving students studying in various institutions of higher learning.
Also, the chairman donated pick up van to Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, for use to servicing the street lights and other logistics.
He noted that his administration had connected some villages such as Pelele, Gigbe, Tugan Usman as well as Agwara to the national electricity grid.
He added that his administration had purchased and installed a lot of transformers in Kekeshi, Kpokpolobi, Naharati and Abaji township communities, to boost the electricity supply for the people.
Also, to alleviate the suffering of the residents from potable drinking water, the chairman disclosed he had repaired the dilapidated boreholes across the ten political wards in Abaji
On the completion of road, he said that the 7.2km Pandagi-River bank road had been completed by the council, pointing out that his administration will focus on the dualisation and construction of all roads in the area.
Earlier, on his goodwill message, the Ona of Abaji, Alhaji Adamu Baban-Yunusa, appealed to the council chairman to provide jobs for the youths, in order to alleviate their sufferings.
