The administration of Abaji Area Council, under Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya, has approved the sum of N4,442,409:06 for payment of primary school teachers in 2018 annual increment.
Ajiya made the disclosure when he handed over 30,000 exercise books to secretary of Local Education (LEA), Alhaji Umar Ndagi, for free distribution to primary school pupils across the area.
He his administration desired to giving priority to teachers’ welfare became necessary, saying teachers welfare should be what every leader need to give priority to, since they are the bed rock of social and economic development of the society.
He said the council decided to procure and donate the exercise books to pupils across all primary schools in ten wards of the council as move to encourage parents from sending their children to school.
Ajiya said the society would only be develop when the future of the younger ones are giving every necessary education support, saying the donation of the books were also part of his campaign promise in 2016.
Responding, the education secretary in the area, Alhaji Umar Ibrahim Ndagi, commended the council chairman for donating the books, which he said would enhance and encourage the pupils to be serious in schools.
He assured the chairman that he will do justice during the distribution of the books, saying he would summon all the head meters of primary schools to ensure they collect the books according to numbers of pupils in their respective schools across the ten wards of the council.
