From Ado Abubakar Musa, Jos
About 66 cattle out of the 566 rustled between Rangil and Gero villages of Jos south local government area of Plateau state were yesterday recovered by a Berom vigilante group.
It would be recalled that the Plateau state chapter of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN) had, since reported that 604 cattle belonging to their members were stolen around Barkin Ladi and Jos south LGA of the state .
MACBAN chairman Haruna Boro Hussaini who spoke to our correspondent in Jos said, “Berom vigilante youths from Vom were able to recover 66 of the cattle and they took them to the A Division police station at Bukuru in Jos south. About five of our members were able to get some of their cattle, some got five some got 10 from the 66 that were recovered.”
He further said , “usually when our cattle are stolen and taken to Vom, they never come out but we thank God for the little that have been recovered and we thank the Berom vigilante in Vom and hope others will emulate them.”
All efforts to confirm the recovery of the cows from the Plateau Police Public Relations Officer, Felicia Anselem proved abortive as her phone cell number could not be reached up to the press time.
