From Okerafor Athanatius, Jalingo

Jalingo, the capital city of Taraba State, Wednesday witnessed an unprecedented crowd as  All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters trooped out from all nooks and crannies of the state to welcome the Presidential Flag bearer of the party in the February general elections, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.

General Buhari, who visited the state in continuation of his nation-wide campaign, assured Nigerians of his willingness to tackle insecurity especially in the North East part of the country if voted into power in the forthcoming presidential election.

Addressing the people at the Trade Fair Complex, Jalingo, venue of the Rally, Gen. Buhari stated that 60% of Nigerians are unemployed with a view to tackling the menace of unemployment which according to him posed a challenge to the teeming youths.

He told the people of the state that his administration would boost agriculture in the area, emphasizing that work would certainly start at the abandoned Mambilla Hydro Electric power project in Sardauna Local Government Area of the State.

The APC presidential hopeful further advised Tarabans not to make the mistake of voting for Goodluck Jonathan and PDP as in doing so will give birth to mistakes that would be regretted.

In his remarks, former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar reminded Tarabans that he has entered a covenant with them. One of such covenants he stated is to give them the best which he has proved by given them General Buhari. The Candidature of Buhari is his own part of the covenant, asking them to fulfill their part by supporting and voting General Muhammadu Buhari and all APC candidates saying, they will bring development and positive change in the State and Nigeria at large.

Speaking, the Gubernatorial Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State, Senator Aisha Jummai Alhassan, appreciated the efforts of the people of the State for their support for APC, who also came out in their thousands to witness the beginning of APC Government taking over both at the state and federal level. She addressed mischief makers as liars who said that General Buhari would neither give her flag nor agree to work with her because she is a Muslim woman, insinuating that their religion abhors it.

Earlier in his address of welcome, the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mallam Jika Ardo, who was very excited over the mammoth crowd of supporters of the party who were present at the Rally, added, “You are here today to know that APC is present in Taraba State, you are here to know that APC is the first opposition party to flourish in Taraba State. “Over the years, we have been having opposition parties, who are simply subsidiaries of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, but today, you can see to yourselves that this is the beginning and this is how we will take over government”. He used the medium to welcome visitors to Taraba State and wished them God’s journey mercies to their respective destinations.
