Six federal government regulatory bodies have accredited various courses at the Malikiya College of Health and Social Sciences in Bauchi State.
The Proprietor of the College Alhaji Aminu Mohammed Dan Bauchi stated this yesterday in Bauchi when he received officials of Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria who paid an advisory inspection visit to the college in Bauchi.
He said the bodies are Health Records Officers Registration Board of Nigeria, Associations of Medical and X – ray technicians of Nigeria, Community Health Practitioners Registration Board, Dental Therapies Registration Board of Nigeria and West African Health Examination Board and Medical Science Council of Nigeria.
Alhaji Aminu who is the chairman Bauchi State Committee on Public Private Partnership on establishment of health institutions in the state said the school was opened three years ago on the request of the state government in its effort to reduce the shortage of manpower in hospitals and health institutions in the state.
He said out of the 2,000 students in the school, Bauchi government sponsored 1,500 and explained nonpayment of school fees as and when due as the major challenged bedeviling the institution.
Presently government paid for only 500 students out of the 1500 sponsored by the government, we are making effort to see if they will pay for another 500 but presently the board of directors governing the college financed the activities of the college”.
Leader of the four man delegation that visited the college who is the chairman of the state standing committee for the accreditation of Nursing and Midwifery Council, Alhaji Umar Mohammed commended the proprietor for huge investments in the college .
Umar who is the state director nursing advises the college to improve facilities in the library , ICT center, skills acquisition and demonstrations room, and urged the college to provide a 32 seater Bus and improve sporting facilities in the college.
Zonal Director Nursing and Midwifery, who is The Provost of the College of Nursing and Midwifery of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu and Hajiya Rakiya Saleh advised the wealthy individuals to emulate the proprietor and hailed the college for the establishment of the college and Hospital complex.
