As Nigeria marks its 54th independence anniversary on Wednesday, the Board of Directors of Voice of Nigeria (VON), Chief Andy Aghaji has called for sober reflections on the day.
Chief Aghaji, speaking to newsmen in the premises of the VON, called on Nigerians to pray for peace and unity of the country.
He called on Nigerians to support President Goodluck Jonathan in the war against insurgency in the country.
According to him, Nigerians must unite irrespective of political and religious differences in the fight against Boko Haram as the country did with Ebola virus.
Chief Aghaji, appealed to politicians in the country to eschew in the preparation for the 2015 general elections.
He used the occasion to wish Nigerians as successful celebration of Eid-el kabir festival and urged the Muslim faithful to use the occasion to reflect on the teachings, life and exemplary leadership of the Holy Prophet Muhammad which laid the foundation of morality, chastity, modesty, justice, equality, brotherhood and accountability.
