438 patients receive free surgery in Adamawa

The free medical treatment sponsored by Senator Binos Yaroe to his constituents in Adamawa Southern Senatorial District has recorded a success with a total of 438 patients benefiting.
Head of the medical team at the concluded exercise disclosed the development at the closing ceremony held in Demsa Local Government Area of the state yesterday .
Dr Stanley Joseph who doubles as the Chief Medical Director of LCCN Referral Centre in Demsa town said 204 general surgeries were conducted alongside 162 ophthalmic surgeries and 72 dental surgeries.
“We offered 764 laboratory services to different people while 1009 different eye care services were rendered and about 400 eye glasses offered to different people with eye problem.
“We had a total number of 8,030 patients that are consulted at the general outpatient during the exercise,” Joseph said.
Also speaking on the exercise, Sen. Yaroe said he organized the reach-out in collaboration with an NGO, Soteria-Afrique Rural Healthcare Initiative and the Christian Broadcasting Network.
Yaroe who is a first time senator said he was impressed by the outcome particularly the acceptance and joy exhibited by the patients and their relations which he said had gingered him to prepare for a more bigger Out-Reach.
“I am a very happy person and thankful to God and all volunteer medical personnel that come for this Out-Reach.
“For me is like testing the waters and the way people receive it and the joy on the faces of beneficiaries and their relations is something that cannot be quantified which encourage me to do more.
“We are planning to organize another out-reach; in fact we are already talking with some partners in United States that have expressed their desire to also join us in future out-reach,” Yaroe said.
Speaking on the exercise, an elderly man, Mr Eli Humoshe, whose 24 years son, Edmond Eli, had been blind for the past 20 years and was able to regain his sight after an operation during the exercise said he was overwhelmed with joy.
“He lost his sight when he was just three years old and today he has started seeing things; I don’t know how to express my gratitude to God and the senator, Humoshe who came from Kpasham village of Demsa Local Government Area said.
