3,500 patients’ benefit from free medical outreach in Kebbi

No fewer than 3,500 patients’ in Ngaski and Warra Towns of Ngaski Local Government Area in Yauri Emirate Council of Kebbi State have been treated of ailments with so many surgeries carried out in the past one year.
Member, representing Yauri, Ngaski and Shanga Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives in the National Assembly, Hon. Tanko Yusuf Sununu disclosed this in an interview with the journalists in Birnin-Kebbi weekend.
He disclosed further that through the medical outreach he instituted, no fewer than 500 people with eyes problems have had their sight restored within the year under review.
Hon. Sununu stated that his aim for the medical outreach was that in the next four years he should be able to restore the sight of all those who lost their sight as a result of chateracts, adding that at present 900 people eyes with chateracts have have been operated and their eyes restored.
The Legislator who is a medical Doctor by profession, is also the Chairman House Committee on Healthcare Services promised that this gestures is meant to be continued with an arrangement with the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) Kebbi Statate branch.
He however regretted that the issues of covid-19 came up and there was lockdown and the programme was suspended, promissing that as soon as the pandemic is brought undercontrol the programme will resume in Shanga and Yauri towns respectively as the eye surgery will be carried out in Yauri General Hospital.
“We are also reaching out to all those who are in need and could not get healthcare assistance, we are going to support them or pay for them”. He promised.
Another area of intervention according to him is how to get all the primary Health Centers in the riverine areas of the Emirate renovated.pointing out that the State Government and the UNICEF have done their own parts, “it want to complement that feet by fencing all the Health Centers in the Zone”.
The Federal Lawmaker who is also the House Committee Chairman on Healthcare services Hon Dr.Tanko Yusuf Sununu said that the House have satisfied with the the leadership style of the Rt Hon. Speaker Hon. Femi Gbajabimila administration, adding that the Speaker has demonstrated a good leadership qualities by eschew any political difference and ensured the unit among the members.
