The Chief Magistrate court 11 in Damaturu, Yobe state, presided over by Chief magistrate Hadiza Lawan Musa, has arraigned a 30 years old businessman, kulima Abubakar on three count charges of rape, assault on a woman with intention to outrage modesty, and an act of gross indecency.
Police prosecutor, Sgt. Hayatu Musa told the court that the case was reported at the police ‘A’ Division in Damaturu on the 17th of October, 2017, by one Abdullahi Isa of Bindigari ward, Damaturu.
He told the court that on the same date at about 1000 hours, the accused person of the same address, went to the complainant’s house and invited his eight years old daughter, name withheld, to his own, accused person’s house, and had unlawful canal knowledge with her.
The prosecutor further told the court that the offences committed by the accused person contradict sections 283, 268, and 285 of the penal code law.
When the charges were read out to the accused person before the court, he pleaded not guilty to any of the charges, thus moving the prosecutor to seek for adjournment of the case to enable him produce his witness to testify before the court.
The case was therefore adjourned to the 7th day of November for hearing while the judge ordered the accused person to be remanded in prison custody.
